Café Sjiek.

The first cafe-pub in the Netherlands and still the place to be.

Love of cooking.

Although the name may suggest a fine dining establishment, Café Sjiek (pronounced ‘chic’) is an easy-going café-pub that doesn’t take reservations but does welcome guests seven days a week. Here you can enjoy sjiek dishes and sjiek wines … sjiek being Maastricht dialect for ‘great.’ The menu consists largely of traditional dishes, such as zoervleis (meat stew), black pudding (blood sausage), game, and sauerkraut. It also boasts delicious salads and meat, fish, and pasta dishes.

Café Sjiek was established in 1982 as the first cafe-pub in Maastricht. It is small and cosy, with old-fashioned service and a large outdoor patio in the historic city park in the summer.

Unfortunately, they do not take bookings.
